The time is near!
We know, you are itching to just write already. This setup stuff has been a lot of work. There are only a few more steps and you can launch.
Ready to start telling the world about your site? To network on Facebook, one of the best things that you can do is to add your website to your public information.
On Facebook, go to Edit Profile. List your website under Contact and Basic Info. Then set this section to Public. If people decide to check out your profile after you comment on in a group, they will be able to make their way over to your site.
The WordPress Editor
To create a new post or page, click Posts then Add New.
The first blank box is for the title of your post. As you type a title, the permalink underneath will update. This gives the post a URL.
Next is the Add Media button. This is how to add images into your post. From here you can select an image you have already uploaded or add a new one by dragging and dropping or browsing on your computer.
Tip: Ensure the Title and Alt Text describe what is in the image, not the DSC_2103843 that your camera might name it. This helps search engines find your content.
Beneath Add Media you should have two rows of buttons, starting with the bold button. If you can’t see two rows, hover over the buttons to find the one called Toggle Toolbar and click on it.
The first row of your toolbar contains standard formatting choices. A format to know is Blockquote, which will create a highlighted section with formatting that makes it stand out. There are also buttons here to insert a link and break a link.
Tip: Highlight the text that you want to link and hold down Ctrl + K on a PC or Cmd + K on a Mac in order to bring up the link menu.
The second row includes a drop down menu, where you can select text formats for paragraph and various heading sizes. Heading 1 is the size that your title will be on the page, so avoid using it in your post. Headings 2-6 are very useful for breaking up your post to make it more readable. Using the header formats is also good for SEO.
Take a minute now to publish a test post, so you can see all of the different formats as they appear with your theme.
